Clinical governance

GPLine is committed to safe, accountable online GP care in line with Irish regulatory standards and Medical Council of Ireland guidance on telemedicine.

Registered doctors

Every GPLine consultation is delivered by a doctor registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. IMC numbers are published on doctor profiles so patients can verify registration independently at medicalcouncil.ie.

Clinical decision-making

Prescriptions, sick certificates and referrals are issued only where clinically appropriate following a genuine doctor–patient consultation. GPLine does not prescribe controlled drugs, sedatives, sleeping tablets or medications with a risk of dependence.

Where a physical examination or urgent in-person care is needed, the GP will advise accordingly — online care is not offered when it would be unsafe.

Data protection

Patient records are stored on servers within the European Union under GDPR. GPLine operates under the oversight of the Irish Data Protection Commission. We do not sell health data.

Content review

Health information on this website is reviewed by GPLine's clinical team. See our editorial policy for how we maintain accuracy and when content was last reviewed.
