GPLine offers secure online consultations for patients who require a medical assessment regarding fitness for work. During your appointment, you will speak with an Irish Medical Council–registered GP who will assess your symptoms, discuss your medical history where relevant, and determine whether a medical certificate is clinically appropriate.
Medical certificates are only issued following an individual clinical assessment. Our doctors make independent medical decisions based on professional standards, clinical judgement, and the Medical Council's ethical guidance.
This service is intended for patients in Ireland who are unable to attend work due to a non-emergency medical condition and require an assessment by a GP.
If your doctor determines that you are medically unfit for work, a medical certificate may be issued electronically after your consultation where clinically appropriate.
Our doctors follow the Medical Council's professional and ethical guidance when issuing medical certificates. Certificates are provided only after an appropriate medical assessment and cannot be issued retrospectively for illnesses that were not assessed at the relevant time.
The medical certificate issued through this service is intended for statutory sick leave and employer notification where appropriate. If you require documentation for other purposes, your GP will advise you during the consultation.
This service is intended for non-emergency medical concerns only. If you experience chest pain, severe breathing difficulties, symptoms of stroke, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, or another life-threatening emergency, call 999 or 112 immediately or attend your nearest Emergency Department.
A medical certificate is not automatically issued with every consultation. All certificates, medical advice, referrals, and treatment recommendations are provided only following an individual clinical assessment and where considered clinically appropriate by the consulting doctor.
